This piece of music is performed by a young man in care, together with some of his carers in his children’s home. Much to his displeasure we cannot use his name and give him the credit he deserves. Credit not only for his evident musical talent but also his strength and resilience. Life hasn’t always been kind to him but he has done amazingly well in his current placement. He has made strong and trusting relationships and is happier than he has been for some time. This comes across in his performance. He has, of course, had the chance to check these words and what you are now reading is a ‘joint effort’. We have not met ‘K’ and probably never will, though it would be a pleasure to do so. We may get to know him in the future – maybe even get to one of his performances!
